Stoner’s Motegi test cancelled due to rain
Thursday, 5 September 2013
The worsening weather at Twin Ring Motegi has forced HRC to cancel Casey Stoner’s second and final day of testing at the venue.
With rain having already delayed proceedings on Wednesday, double World Champion Stoner and his crew had hoped for an improvement on Day 2.
Following a previous gathering at Motegi in August, during which Stoner focused on the development of the RC213V raced by Dani Pedrosa and Marc Marquez, the latest test could have also seen the Australian riding the ‘Honda production racer’ that will be used by selected teams in 2014.
“We are incredibly pleased to have such a rapid test rider,” Honda’s Livio Suppo told motogp.com before the test. “This has proven to be a perfect situation for us; since Casey retired from racing (at the end of 2012), he has missed riding the bike, so to have a rider of this calibre involved in the development of our machine is like a dream for us.”
Since his retirement from MotoGP™, in which he claimed the world titles of 2007 (Ducati Team) and 2011 (Repsol Honda Team), Stoner has turned his attention to Australian series V8 Supercars. His next Motegi test with HRC is scheduled for the 2nd-3rd October.
