Iannone still suffering with injured shoulder
Tuesday, 3 September 2013
Andrea Iannone endured a tough ride to 11th place in Sunday’s British Grand Prix, as the Energy T.I. Pramac Racing rider continued to suffer from a painful shoulder.
The Italian’s right shoulder was injured in a Free Practice 1 crash at the German Grand Prix (see video below), which consequently left him on the sidelines for the following race at Laguna Seca. At Silverstone, he underwent more treatment from the Clinica Mobile staff but continued to suffer over the 20 laps of Sunday’s race.
"This has been a really tough weekend," Iannone commented at Silverstone. "I always tried to do my best but it wasn’t easy. I was always pretty far from the leaders, but also from my fellow Ducati riders. For sure, the biggest problem at the moment is that my shoulder really hurts. For almost a month now I’ve been taking so many medicines and painkillers that I’m not sure they’re having an effect.
"I'm not happy with how it went but I know I did my best all the time. Now I’ll take advantage of the short rest period before Misano. I’ll work a lot with my physical therapist to regain strength and mobility in my shoulder. I hope to be at least at 80 or 90% at Misano because I’d like to be fit in front of my home crowd."
Iannone, who finished third overall in Moto2™ between 2010 and 2012, will next be in action for the San Marino Grand Prix; in his last two races at Misano in the intermediate class, he finished on the podium in third position.
