GSeries BPA to feature MotoGP™ personalities
Thursday, 5 December 2013
Dorna Sports has launched a promotional campaign for the GSeries BPA 2014, with participation in its premier class (4RM) with two cars; in each of the six races of the season, the vehicles will be piloted by MotoGP™ personalities.
The Dorna initiative is based on the intention to acknowledge the collaboration of riders and other personalities to the World Championship, inviting them to participate in a winter car event without the usual pressure and amid a selection of naturally beautiful settings.
“We decided to make a big effort to put together a two-car team in all of the GSeries BPA events,” explains Carmelo Ezpeleta, Dorna Sports CEO. “MotoGP™ riders will be alternating across the two vehicles, as well as sponsors and organisers. We thought this would be a good activity to thank all of these people for their contribution towards our World Championship, inviting them to an activity that will above all be fun to take part in.”
Competing in the first event, G1 and G2 in January, will be triple World Champion Loris Capirossi who has served as a Dorna Safety Advisor since 2012. Also at the wheel will be Hiroshi Aoyama, 250 World Champion of 2009. One of the representatives for the second vehicle will be Claude Michy, promoter and organiser of the French Grand Prix.
The GSeries BPA 2014 will start on the weekend of 11-12 January, following a so-called dress rehearsal on Saturday 21 December.
