Ducati Team hopes for the best in Barcelona
Wednesday, 12 June 2013
Ducati Team travels to Barcelona with no specifically set goals, although both Andrea Dovizioso and Nicky Hayden are looking to draw more positives from Round 6.
Across the opening quintet of Grands Prix in 2013, the Bologna-based outfit’s regular riders have finished in the points on a total of ten occasions, although both the Italian and the American are looking to improve on their three top five finishes thus far.
“Barcelona is one of the nicest tracks on the calendar and it’s always fun to go to Spain for a race weekend,” Dovizioso begins, having finished on the podium last year for Monster Yamaha Tech 3. “As for the Ducati, I’m not sure because I’ve never ridden the GP13 on this circuit, but it might not be the best track for us because of the fast corners where our bike tends to ‘pump’ a bit at the rear.
“Still, I’m keeping an open mind as we head to Barcelona. I’m always very excited to go there and I’m optimistic following a good weekend at Mugello and a good test last week.”
“Barcelona hasn’t been a great weekend for me in recent years,” adds Hayden, MotoGP™ World Champion with Repsol Honda Team in 2006. “I’ve struggled a bit there, especially with the long corners which are very important. Still, we know Catalunya is a great track and I really enjoy the area and the atmosphere.
“I certainly hope to do a better result there than I have the last couple of seasons. We’ll see what we can come up with and we’ll keep pushing and moving forward.”
Dovizioso has qualified on the front row at the last two races, with his best Sunday afternoon finish to date being fourth in France; on the same occasion, Hayden notched up his personal best result of the campaign by crossing the finish line in fifth position.
