Hayden visits NASCAR race at Indianapolis
Thursday, 1 August 2013
Ahead of the annual MotoGP™ journey to Indianapolis later this month, Nicky Hayden made an early visit to the world-famous Motor Speedway as a spectator at last weekend’s Brickyard 400 NASCAR race.
For the 2006 MotoGP™ World Champion, it was not only an opportunity to rub shoulders with the likes of two-time Daytona 500 winner Michael Waltrip, three-time NASCAR champion Tony Stewart and a personal hero of Hayden in Dale Earnhardt Jr., but also a chance to answer their questions in the drivers’ meeting.
“They asked me about a bunch of stuff!” Hayden, who had been quizzed for around 15 minutes, laughed when talking to the IndyStar.
He also shared the latest on his own career situation, having already announced at Laguna Seca that he will not be remaining with Ducati Team after the 2013 season.
“At the moment there are only so many competitive bikes and, unfortunately for me, none of their (other riders’) contracts are up,” he continued. “I’m going to sit down after all the offers come in and see what they are.”
Hayden, who won the MotoGP™ world title with Repsol Honda Team in 2006, has raced with his current Ducati Team outfit since the start of the 2009 campaign.
