Rooney fires England to win
Wayne Rooney inspired England to a vital 4-1 win over Montenegro to put Roy Hodgson's side within touching distance of next year's World Cup.
The Reds' striker scored the first goal to ease some of the nerves around Wembley early in the second half, and it had United stamped all over it.
Danny Welbeck saw his shot saved by Montenegro keeper Vukasin Poleksic, but his Reds team-mate was on hand to sweep England into the lead, bagging his 37th international goal in the process.
The second goal also had an Old Trafford influence, with Welbeck's pull-back from the left played into his own net by Branko Boskovic.
