Hayden pushing for Misano return
Wednesday, 20 August 2014
Nicky Hayden has posted a message on Facebook in order to thank fans for their support during his convalescence following surgery on his injured wrist. The 2006 World Champion hopes to be back in action at Misano on 14 September.
Since the wrist operation took place, the American has sat out of two Grands Prix at Indianapolis and Brno. With the Drive M7 Aspar team having confirmed that Leon Camier will be racing once again, Hayden sent out an update with a video message.
"I have seen my doctor this week," Hayden explains. "He examined my wrist and was able to see the movement in the joint especially, to see how everything was looking inside. I am pretty happy with what he is saying.
"I am not 100% yet and am going to miss at least one more race, which I don’t like because I love Silverstone. As soon as I first went there, I fell in love with the place. I even had the fastest lap there a few years ago (in 2011) and was the first Ducati home every time…but it looks like I will get the green like to come back healthy and have some fun at Misano or Aragon.
"In the meantime, I want to thank my supporters for all of your support. At Indy I was able to interact with a lot of people and even during the Brno weekend a lot of people were tweeting me with photos of my gear and merchandise; it was kind of cool to see everybody sticking behind me, even though I wasn’t at the track!
"I’m looking forward to coming back soon. Again, thanks to you guys and especially to my team: everybody at Aspar, Drive M7 and Honda. I’ll catch you down the road and hopefully soon we’ll be back on track! Adios!"
During Hayden’s absence, replacement rider Camier has continued to improve and scored his first MotoGP™ World Championship point by finishing 15th at Brno.
